The thesis deals with the urgent research issue of the substantiation, development and experimental verification of the effectiveness of the model and organizational and pedagogical conditions of the formation of the communicative competence of software engineering specialists at higher education institutions. Standard documents, national laws, pedagogical, psychological and methodological sources on the theory and practice of the professional training of specialists with the special focus on software engineers at higher education institutions, software engineering education curricula and guidelines in Ukraine and abroad have been analyzed. The definitions of «competence», «communication», «communicative competence» have been specified. The notions of «communicative competence of software engineering specialists» and «communicative patterns» have been formulated. The content analysis of the coursebooks and textbooks for studying the English language for information technology specialists in has been carried out. The specific communication peculiarities of software engineering specialists have been considered. The theoretical background and practical experience of application of information and communication technologies for the formation of the communicative competence have been studied. The methodical approaches to the formation of the communicative competence of software engineering specialists based on the use of author communicative patterns while studying a foreign language and professional disciplines have been proposed. The organizational and pedagogical conditions of formation of the communicative competence of software engineering specialists at higher educational institutions have been substantiated and determined (enrichment of the content of educational programs and teaching-methodical complexes of foreign language disciplines with exercises, texts and patterns of effective professional communication; application of interactive study forms of selected professional disciplines, taking into account the specifics of the professional activity of software engineers in the implementation of dominant methods; the use of synchronous and asynchronous communication tools, special Internet resources, social online networks and virtual communities when learning a foreign language and professional subjects in a foreign language in the classroom and self-work). The model of formation of the communicative competence of software engineering specialists in the unity of its components (motivational and purposeful, methodological, content, procedural and resulting ones) has been developed for the first time. The criteria and indicators of the formation of the communicative competence of software engineering specialists have been determined. The three levels of the communicative competence formation have been proposed (low, intermediate, high levels). The effectiveness of the model and the organizational and pedagogical conditions for the formation of the communicative competence of software engineering specialists has been experimentally tested. The curricula and educational and methodical complexes on «Foreign language» and «Foreign language for professional purposes» disciplines; teaching aids, methodological recommendations, tasks and exercises, electronic educational and methodological complexes on «Foreign language» and «Foreign language for professional purposes» for implementation into the professional training process of software engineering specialists at higher education institutions have been developed.
