Essay

The thesis focuses on developing terminological competence in bilateral interpreting (English and Ukrainian languages) of future interpreters through e-learning. The research allows analysing modern educational technologies and prospects for future professionals in the context of bilateral interpreting. The background, goals and content of the development of future interpreters’ terminological competence in bilateral interpreting are studied and the concept of professional competence of an interpreter and its components, as well as the terminological competence are considered in detail. In order to clarify the goals, and content of the teaching the bilateral interpreting using interdisciplinary terminology, considered in the context of the defined components of the conceptual and procedural aspects, the content of the interpreting practice credit modules of a number of leading Ukrainian universities is researched. The analysis of scientific and methodological documentation shows that sufficient attention is devoted to the problems of the formation of terminological competence in bilateral interpreting. However, within the course of interpreting, there is not enough time for the formation of profession-oriented lexical competence, which requires knowledge of the basic scientific and technological terminology. The complex analysis of the psycholinguistic peculiarities of teaching the bilateral interpreting using interdisciplinary terminology suggests that the formation of code-switching skills and the development of psycho-physiological mechanisms for future interpreting is a necessary component of the teaching method and this fact should be taken into account when developing the subsystem of exercises.
