The thesis deals with the theoretical and experimental study of the problem of future pharmacists’ sociocultural competence formation in the process of humanities study in colleges. The analysis of scientific and methodical literature has given the chance to present the definition of the basic notions “sociocultural competence”, “sociocultural competence of future pharmacist”, “formation of the sociocultural competence of future pharmacists in the process of humanities study”. The author’s definition of the notion “sociocultural competence of future pharmacist” is clarified (person-professional creation that is characterized by the ability of the person to interact with different categories of the population in order to provide information on the rational use of drugs, disease prevention, preservation and strengthening their health on the basis of the acquired knowledge on the social and cultural spheres of life, value orientations, personal qualities that are formed and developed in the educational environment of the pharmaceutical establishment). The framework of the research develops and presents the structure of the sociocultural competence of future pharmacists which is represented by a set of four interrelated components: the motivational-axiological, information and cognitive, behavioral-activity, and person-reflexive. On the basis of certain criteria (motivationally-axiological, knowledge-cognitive, activity-communicative, appraisal-productive) and corresponding indicators, three levels of future pharmacist’ sociocultural competence formation in the process of humanities study have been distinguished: initial, sufficient, high. The author has developed her own model of shaping future pharmacists’ sociocultural competence. There have been substantiated the features of its structure (main elements and stages), their sequence and interconnection, which determines the essence of the design of the process of future pharmacists’ sociocultural competence formation. The effectiveness of its implementation in the educational process of medical and pharmaceutical establishments of higher education with the help of step-by-step methodology has been experimentally tested. The results of the experimental work reveal considerable positive changes in developing future pharmacists’ sociocultural competence. Prospects for further scientific researchers are outlined.
