Poluektova A. The Accent Differences of Nominal Parts of Speech and Adverbs in the Edition of “Grammar” by M. Smotrytskyi of 1619 (Evie) in comparison with the Edition of 1648 (Moscow)

Object: accent differences in such nominal parts of speech as nouns, pronouns, adjectives, numerals and also adverbs in the absolutely similar in the terms of contents texts of Ukrainian and Moscow editions of M. Smotrytskyi’s “Grammar” dated 1619 and 1648. Objective: comparison of words stressing of mentioned parts of speech in two documents, printed in Vievis (1619) and Moscow (1648); detecting of accent differences; exploration of Proto-Slavic accentuation of the analyzed lexical units (word forms) and comparing of it with the stresses in the chosen printed documents; defining if word stresses under analysis correspond with Old Ukrainian natural pronunciation or not. Methods: comparative-historical, descriptive, quantitative analysis. Scientific novelty: for the first time performed the comparative analysis of word stressing in Ukrainian (1619) and Moscow (1648) editions of “Grammar” by M. Smotrytskyi; detected, systematized and analyzed the whole complex of differences and peculiarities in the stressing of nominal parts of speech and adverbs in “Grammar” (1619, 1648) by M. Smotrytskyi, grammar works and documents of 16th‒18th centuries; improved the procedure of analysis of accent differences in the Ukrainian and Russian editions of the same documents with the identical contents; confirmed the existence of an issue concerning transformation of the documents of the similar contents of Ukrainian and Moscow editions; discovered the reasons of correspondence or disconformity of word stressing between M. Smotrytskyi’s “Grammar” (1619) and Old Ukrainian accent system of the 1st half of 17th century; established that the majority of words from the Ukrainian edition of “Grammar” does depict the Old Ukrainian stress of the mentioned period which was different from the Old Russian one. Practical value: Gained results could be used for the creation of course books, guide-books, monographs in history of Ukrainian stress, during construction of vocabulary of Old Ukrainian stresses, for the comparative, historic and typology study of stress systems of Slavic languages. Factual evidence could be applied during teaching of Ukrainian language history, special courses and workshops in historic accentology of Ukrainian language, comparative-historic accentology of Eastern Slavonic languages. Developed special procedure could be used during investigation of accent differences of texts with the same contents.
