RESUME Skiba N. Ya. Integrative Development of Foreign Language Communicative and Methodological Competences of Prospective Teachers of English for Economics. Thesis for a Candidate Degree in Pedagogical Studies (PhD), Specialty 13.00.02 “Theory and Methods of Teaching (Germanic Languages).” Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, Ternopil, 2019. The object of the research is the process of the integrative development of foreign language communicative and methodological competences of prospective teachers of English for Economics. The aim of the scientific work lies in theoretical substantiation, practical elaboration and experimental verification of the methodology of the integrative development of foreign language communicative and methodological competences of prospective teachers of English for Economics. Practical significance of the research consists in: the selection of teaching material for the integrative development of foreign language communicative and methodological competences of prospective teachers of English for Economics; substantiation of selection criteria of teaching material; defining levels and indicators of gaining the aforementioned competences; elaborating the system of exercises and tasks; compiling the methodological recommendations concerning the integrative development of foreign language communicative and methodological competences of prospective teachers of English for Economics; compiling a glossary of economic terms and a glossary of methodological terms; elaborating a coauthored text-book «English for Economics». At the various stages of scientific research, the following methods have been used: theoretical: the analysis of domestic and foreign research on the methodology of foreign language teaching, linguistics, pedagogy and psychology, as well as current syllabi to determine the preconditions for the integrative development of foreign language communicative and methodological competences of prospective teachers of English for Economics; research of the experience of ESP teachers’ professional activities with a view to define their professional functions and roles; analysis of English economic and methodological discourses to determine the content of teaching English for Economics; research of the experience of economists' professional activities to identify the dominant communicative situations of their professional communication; synthesis and classification for substantiation of stages of the integrative development of foreign language communicative and methodological competences and elaboration of the corresponding system of exercises and tasks; modeling for the purpose of designing a linguo-didactic model of the integrative development of foreign language communicative and methodological competences of prospective teachers of English for Economics; empirical: questioning and testing in order to determine the level of gaining the foreign language communicative and methodological competences; methodological experiment, application of mathematical statistics methods for determining the effectiveness of the suggested methodology. The methodology of the integrative development of foreign language communicative and methodological competences of prospective teachers of English for Economics has been theoretically substantiated, practically elaborated and experimentally verified. The essence and the structure of foreign language communicative and methodological competences of prospective teachers of English for Economics have been specified. It has been determined, that the process of the integrative development of the competences under research is based upon the competence, integrative, communicative activity-based and reflective approaches; general and methodological principles. The content of the integrative development of the competences under research has been outlined in two aspects: subject and procedural ones. The linguistic and stylistic features of the English economic discourse and the methodological discourse have been analyzed. The selection criteria of textual material (authenticity, professional orientation, exemplarity, topical correlation, relevance of information, methodological value) as well as those of lexical material (connectivity, semantic value, stylistic conformity, frequency, professional orientation) have been defined. Three stages of the integrative development of the competences under research have been determined: introductory, practical training and productive stages. According to the established stages, the integrative system of exercises and tasks (consisting of 6 groups and 15 subgroups) has been elaborated. The linguo-didactic model of the integrative development of foreign language communicative and methodological competences of prospective teachers of English for Economics has been designed. The effectiveness of the developed methodology has been verified and confirmed during the experimental teaching.
