Essay

The dissertation is devoted to identifying the role of toxocar in impaired tear production and the development of «dry eye» syndrome, as well as improving the efficiency of diagnostics and treatment of «dry eye» syndrome in patients with toxocariasis based on the optimization of modern examination methods. To perform the tasks, 99 patients with toxocariasis (53 men and 46 women) aged from 20 to 60 years old and 20 practically healthy people of the corresponding age and sex, who underwent comprehensive clinical, laboratory and instrumental examination, were examined. The paper analyzed the data of a carefully collected history, subjective and objective data. Clinical and laboratory features of the course of toxocariasis in patients with dry «eye syndrome» were identified, data on the state of non-specific immune defenses with the definition of a set of indicators characterizing cellular and humoral immunity for assessment of the adaptive-compensatory responses of the organism to the definitive host in toxocarosis are presented. The paper analyzed the degree of interrelation of immunological and hormonal indices, which we determined by calculating the corresponding correlation coefficients of cortisol and insulin with immunity indicators. In the research, new data were obtained that supplement the concept of the toxocariasis pathogenesis, in particular, an assessment of methods for examining patients with toxocariasis «dry eye» syndrome was carried out, which allowed us to identify the most simple and informative methods of examination for the early detection of organ pathology. For the first time in patients with toxocariasis, «dry eye» syndrome, disorders in the ratio of cortisol and insulin, correlation of immune-hormonal links were revealed. Data on the characteristics of the content indicators of cellular and humoral immunity can be used as additional criteria for diagnostic purposes in toxocariasis. It is recommended to use the following indicators in clinical practice as the most informative criteria in patients with toxocariasis «dry eye» syndrome: an increase in CD8+, circulating immune complexes (CIC), phagocytic neutrophil count and a decrease in CD20+. The degree and rate of reverse development of immune-hormonal relations in patients after anthelmintic therapies were inversely related to the severity of changes in the state of the body and the duration of invasion. The expediency of the use of complex treatment with addition of ɑ-2-b interferon in complex anthelmintic therapy has been substantiated.
