Essay

The author proposed formalized typologization of the euphonic parameters of language in general and the Ukrainian language in particular. She defined correlation between universal and idio-ethnic features and formational factors of this phenomenon. She also investigated dialectical unit of descriptive and prescreptive aspects of euphony in synchrony and diachrony. Other subjects of the research are: history and theory of euphony, theoretical and experimental interpretation of the idio-ethnic conceptualization of EUPHONY by Ukrainian speakers in the context of the similar phenomena in other languages: a) neighboring (Bielorussian, Russian), b) similar in phonetic typology (Romance, first of all Italian), c) worldwide (English), sources of the concept of EUPHONY (ancient Greek). The language as a system of systems, the verbalization of the language world view in all levels of the language system, the interaction of universal, ethnical, and individual factors of the language development, the dialectical synergy of descriptive and prescriptive aspects of language represent methodological principles of the research. Ukrainian folk lullabies are investigated as an euphonic standard. The euphony of Taras Shevchenko’s, Pavlo Tychyna’s, Oleksii Dovhyi’s, Anatolii Moisienko’s, and Dmytro Chystiak’s poetic language is also investigated. In contrast to euphony of national language in general (based mostly on the syllabic structure and phonemic repertory), euphony of poetic language also strongly depends on phonosemantic values of vocals and consonants and also on the rhythm of poetic line. The author proposed the complex interdisciplinary model of the formation of euphonic phenomena in the Ukrainian language in the context of Ukrainian glottogony. It is based on the euphonological interpretation of the inner-language (saving of the language efforts and saving of articulatory habits), the external-language (possible substrate influence on the formation of the open-syllable structure in Proto-Slavic, prolonged in the ‘full-vowel’ structure of the East Slavic languages and the CVCV-structure in Ukrainian, especially oral) and extra-language (pre-historic ethnic contacts as possible pre-conditions of the suggested substrate influence) factors of the language development. The depth and variety of the conceptualization of MILITARY INSTITUTION are shown by the most active carriers of modern Ukrainian language, interest in its idioethnic specificity of the Ukrainian language and its specific typological features against the background of other European languages. The complex model of the formation of the sonority of the Ukrainian language is comprehensively based on the euphonological interpretation of the inter-language (the laws of saving language efforts and the preservation of articulation habits), foreign language (the probable substrate effect on the formation of the Slavonic open-ended component, which continued in the East Slavic full-fledged, and subsequently in the tendency towards the equilibrium of vowels and consonants in the Ukrainian oral text) and extra-language (prehistoric ethnic contacts that became the prerequisite of the supposed substrate influence) of the factors of language development.
