Tsuhorka O. Artistic and Aesthetic Principles of the Ukrainian Baroque in the Modern Icon Painting

In the dissertation, for the first time in Ukrainian art criticism, the aesthetic principles of Ukrainian Baroque in the context of contemporary national iconography are considered and analysed. The modern tendencies, creative methods and artistic and aesthetic principles of leading Ukrainian icon painters are theoretically substantiated. The art criticism analysis of the icons of the Baroque iconostasis of the reconstructed and newly built temples (1996–2019) is done. The characteristic features of the Baroque style in the modern Ukrainian icon-painting are found out. The symbiosis of the aesthetics of Ukrainian Baroque and modern artistic and figurative vision in the work of the national icon painters is highlighted.
