Markevych L. Transformation system of artistic language of Ukrainian national ballet performance in 20-80’s of XX century.

The thesis deals with the Ukrainian national ballet performance as the manifestation of the ethno-national identification in the choreographic culture.Attention is focused on the artistic language transformation in the historical dynamics from genesis to genre-style models of the 80s of the XX century. The study is also concentrated on the range of issues associated with the genre formation, conditions for the formation of the canonical samples, interaction of musical, theatrical and choreographic source materials in the synthesis of the artistic language of the Ukrainian national ballet performances.The definitions of a number of concepts are given, in particular «Ukrainian national ballet performance», «national choreographer style», «national performing style». The components and the levels of the artistic language localization are identified as following: symbolic, expressive, figurative, and technical.The evolution of the artistic language in the Ukrainian national ballet performance from the point of view of the creative process and the received image-result – the author’s and the performer’s reflection (certain specificity of thinking), directly creative action, the form of existence of the choreographic work have been considered.Basing on the comprehensive analysis of a number of ballet performances of the 20-80 s of the XX century, the following functions of the artistic language in the structure of this genre are defined: expressive, emotional, figurative, and thematic contrast. This transformation of the artistic language functions leads to changes in the genre-style format of the ballet performance.
