The dissertation deals with the problem of information-analytical competence of the future border guard officers in the course of foreign language training. The essence of information-analytical competence is understood as an immediate component of professional competence that reflects the readiness and ability of the future border guard officers to apply information and analytical knowledge, their abilities, skills and personal qualities while processing information of various types and forms of presentation; ability to search for, evaluate, store, analyze, issue and disseminate important information in order to obtain qualitatively new knowledge necessary for decision-making in professional activity. The structure of the information-analytical competence is the unity of four components, in particular, value and motivational one, cognitive and operative component, activity component and subjective one. The content of training is improved on the basis of a learner-oriented approach. The criteria (motivational, cognitive, activity and subjective), indicators and levels (high, acceptable, low) of information and analytical competence formation have been determined. A model that consists of organizational, practical and resultative blocks has been developed. Organizational block of the structural and logical model includes the purpose, pedagogical approaches, principles and components of information-competence. The practical block combines the stages, methods, forms and ways of formation of the informational-analytical competence of the future border guard officers. The resultative block provides evidence of criteria, levels and results of the study. The purpose of the system-based factor is to form information-analytical competence of the future border guard officers in the course of foreign language training. In order to form the phenomenon mentioned there have been reasoned and experimentally tested the following pedagogical conditions: organization of the educational process on the basis of a learner-oriented approach that requires taking into account individual psychological peculiarities of the future border guard officers; creation of information environment in the future border guard officers training process; using information technology during the future border guard officers’ individual work. Methodical recommendations for scientific-pedagogical staff of military higher education institutions on the applying of learner-oriented approach in the educational process and the authors’ multimedia manual «Transnational Challenges: Organized Crime» with creative tasks for the cadets have been developed. The results of the study confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed pedagogical conditions and the structural-logical model of the future border guard officers’ information-analytical competence formation.
