Essay

Ukrainian linguistics on the modern stage of development envisages the use of the newest methods of research with bringing in of the modern computer-assisted systems and special technical equipment for all language level’s analysis. It assists appearance of new phenomena and processes among the objects of the scientific interest, in particular singing speech as special variety of speech that was not described in Ukrainian linguistics in articulatory, acoustic and perceptional aspects until now. The thesis investigates phonetic parameters of the Ukrainian singing speech of academic and pop styles on the base of audio recording. Audio recording of the Ukrainian singing and nonsinging speech (19 representatives) were the material of the research. Part of materials, that presents the nonsinging speech, was taken from the records of interview, concerto or television programs. The general volume of research material presents approximately eight hours records of singing and five hours of nonsinging speech records. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that it is the first attempt in Ukrainian Linguistic to describe the acoustic-articulatory features of the Ukrainian singing speech by means of the newest technical equipment. System description of articulatory features of Ukrainian singing vowels and consonants is carried out, description of orthoepical norms functioning in singing on the example of representatives of academic and pop vocal speech is also stated.
