Essay

The thesis deals with the problem of developing ESP competence in written communication of future specialists in publishing and editing. The research is aimed at theoretical reasoning, practical elaboration, and experimental testing of the methodology of developing ESP competence in written communication of future specialists in publishing and editing. The expediency of procedural integration to achieve a synthesis of level, genre, and competence approaches for the transition from elliptical to detailed writing has been substantiated. Didactic, integrative, and methodological principles of the educational process have been defined. A three-stage training on developing ESP competence in written communication of future specialists in publishing and editing with an appropriate system of exercises in each of them has been worked out. Specific criteria for experimental testing of the developed methodology have been established. The manual "English for students majoring in publishing and editing" has been worked out. The results of the research can be used for the writing of printed and electronic manuals for developing ESP competence in written communication of future specialists in publishing and editing.
