Essay

The thesis deals with the problem of developing prospective English teachers' communicative competence in writing based on project technologies. The research is aimed at theoretical reasoning, practical elaboration, and experimental testing of the methodology of implementing project technology into the teaching process to develop communicative competence in writing of students studying English at linguistic higher educational institutions. The term "foreign-language communicative competence in writing for prospective teachers of English" based on project technologies has been defined. Methodical principles and stages of teaching English writing through the use of project technologies have been substantiated. The system of exercises which ensures the development of communicative competence in writing for prospective English teachers has been developed. Specific criteria for experimental testing of the developed methodology have been established. The manual "Organising of project work in the teaching of English academical writing" has been worked out. The results of the research can be used for the writing of printed and electronic manuals for teaching English academic writing to students of linguistic higher educational institutions of Ukraine.
