The dissertation is devoted to the study of helplessness in Self-concept structure of a personality. The system-forming role of helplessness in formation of Self-concept of a personality has been grounded; the relationship of psychological characteristics of helplessness with empirical referents of cognitive, emotional and evaluative, and behavioural components of Self-concept of a personality has been determined; the peculiarities of structural organization of Self-concept in individuals with different levels of formed personality helplessness have been described. The behavioural and resultive component of Self-concept which is manifested in indicators of self-realization and personality maturity have been singled out. The prognostic determinants of personality helplessness in structures of low and average level of maturity of Self-concept of a personality have been empirically explicated; the characteristics profile of personality helplessness, which determines satisfactory and unsatisfactory maturity levels of Self-concept of students has been created.
