Karamushka M. Psychological features of socially active youth development

The author has theoretically substantiated and experimentally studied the psychological features of development of socially active youth as well as presented a socially active youth psychological qualities model. The empirical research has found the levels of development of leadership, value-motivational, emotional-regulatory and communicative components of youth psychological qualities, as well as the differences between socially active and socially inactive youth. The of socially active youth types identified by the author according to the level of development of psychological qualities include leaders, communicators, aggressors, avoiders, and impulsives. The psychological qualities of socially active youth have been found to have statistically significant relationships with macro-level factors (direction of youth social activity), meso-level factors (type of organization where youth is active), and micro level factors (youth professional and socio-demographic characteristics). The author describes the psychological conditions for the development of socially active youth as well as discusses the training course she has developed and tested for the development of psychological qualities necessary for effective social activity of young people.
