The dissertation work is devoted to psychological and pedagogical factors of illusion of knowledge (individual psychological features of the teacher and features of the organization of educational process) of students in the course of educational activity. The paper analyzes the concept of the illusion of knowledge as a mistake of metacognitive monitoring determined by inadequate reflection of cognitive attitude in the context of self-concept, “accuracy of metacognitive monitoring” in the psychological and pedagogical literature and clarifies its role in learning. Approaches to understanding the place and the role of metacognitive monitoring in the educational process were classified. The psychological and pedagogical factors of illusion of knowledge in the process of students’ educational activity were systematized. The classification of psychological and pedagogical factors of illusion of knowledge in the context of components of educational activity was developed, the division of illusion of knowledge in educational process on external (teacher-information-student- result) and internal (information-student-result) was introduced. Empirical research has revealed the peculiarities of the illusion of knowledge in terms of individual psychological characteristics of teachers and the organization of the educational process. Methods and means of reducing the manifestations of the illusion of knowledge in educational activities were considered. A psychological and didactic program for the prevention of the illusion of knowledge in the educational process has been developed and tested.
