Zapotichna R. Transnational banks’ lending activities in terms of debt economy

Object of study: lending activities of transnational banks in terms of the debt economy. Aim: development of theoretical and methodological bases of study of transnational banks’ lending activity in terms of debt economy and reasoning scientific and practical recommendations on improving the system of TNBs’ lending activity regulation for minimization of its negative impact on external debt and the debt economy formation in recipient countries. Methods: method of dialectical cognition, induction and deduction, historical and logical methods, methods of analysis and synthesis, statistical, structural, functional and comparative analysis, economic and mathematical analysis and modeling, methods of abstraction, systematization and generalization, system approach. Scientific novelty: the systemic identification and classification of the determinants of TNB’s lending activity development at the present stage of the spatial structure formation of the world economy are improved; the separation of types of the debt economy is substantiated based on: the nature of impact of external debt on economic growth, the impact of the debt burden on the level of debt security, the type of borrower, whose borrowings play a decisive role in the formation of the debt economy; the groups of factors that determine the nature of TNBs’ lending activity impact on the economy of the recipient countries are identified; the conceptual and categorical apparatus of TNBs’ lending activity research in terms of the debt economy is improved by providing author's approach to interpretation of the categories «debt economy» and «transnational banks»; the shifts in transnational banks’ lending activity in the world in terms of the debt economy are revealed; the scientific and methodological principles of the study of external debt are deepened by clarifying the concept of «external debt» and developing the approaches to its classification; the hierarchical system of TNBs’ lending activity regulation in terms of the debt economy is substantiated. The research results are implemented in practical activities of the Committee on Economic Development of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Department of Finance of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Department of Economic Development of the Lviv City Council, Lviv Regional Directorate of PJSC "Ukrgasbank"; in the educational process of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
