Essay

Thesis provides a comprehensive historical and linguistic study of the semantic and functional stylistic features of the lexical items denoting human emotions and emotional states in written artifacts of the Ukrainian language of the XIV–XVI centuries. The analysis performed of the conceptual and categorical study instrument, a review provided of handwritten and printed written artifacts for the specified period, the role highlighted of ancient authors in the formation and development of the Ukrainian language of the XIV–XVI centuries. The theoretical and methodological aspects analyzed of historical linguistic studies, the basic principles and approaches characterized relevant to the study of linguistic units denoting human emotions and emotional states, central provisions considered of structural vocabulary organization, semantic processes described, which occurred within the specified period. The importance defined of interlanguage contacts to develop the Ukrainian vocabulary of the XIV–XVI centuries.
