Essay

The research object is the foreign literature studying in the senior classes of general secondary education. The aim of the study is to provide the scientific basis for the methodology of studying foreign literature in high school using distance learning technologies, test it experimentally and verify its efficiency conditions from the pedagogical point of view. Research methods - theoretical, empirical, statistical. The scientific novelty of the study is in its being the first attempt for the methodology of teaching Foreign Literature in high school with the use of distance learning techniques to be theoretically based, developed and experimentally tested; the essence of the “Foreign Literature distance teaching of high school students” phenomenon has been identified; the interpretation of the specific nature of high school students’ literary development engaging distance and continued access to educational material has been increased; pedagogical conditions of Foreign Literature teaching with the use of distance learning techniques in high school have been scientifically substantiated and identified (the usage of the main forms and means of communication by the subjects of educational process; combining traditional and innovative teaching techniques; a teacher-student-parent interaction in the course of Foreign Literature teaching with the use of distance learning techniques); high students’ skill levels of subject-matter competence with the use of distance learning techniques in the process of teaching foreign literature (high, sufficient, average, low levels) have been characterized; the experimental model of teaching foreign literature in high school with the use of distance learning techniques has been developed. The theory and methodology of teaching Foreign Literature with the help of innovative information learning strategies have been developed. The practical significance of the study comprises developing and implementation of the diagnostic and forming methodologies of teaching Foreign Literature with the use of distance learning techniques in high school (including electronic cases of educational resources, a set of tasks for high school students’ distance learning of Foreign Literature, specific innovative learning techniques based on facilitating methods (techniques), a model of an individual educational route, online notebook, online reading diary).
