In the dissertation the folk-stage choreographic culture of Ternopil region of the middle of the XX – the beginning of the XXI century is comprehensively investigated. The main stages of development of amateur art in the region during the Soviet times and in the conditions of independent Ukraine are revealed. The festival- competition movement in the field of folk-stage dance in Ternopil region is considered. The activity of the choreographic department of Terebovlia College of Culture and Arts and its role in the culture of Ternopil region and Ukraine are described. The influence of the art and pedagogical school of the department of choreography of the Kyiv Institute of Culture named after O. Ye. Korniichuk for teachers-choreographers of Terebovlia cult school. The activity of one of the leading artists of folk-stage choreography of Ukraine I. Nykolyshyn is analyzed, the main stages of formation and development of his choreography and pedagogical skills are revealed. The work of the professional dance ensemble "Nadzbruchanka" is analyzed.
