Essay

The thesis researches the activity of the ballet company of Lviv S. Krushelnytska National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre through the prism of performance and ballet master activity of the people working on its stage in the second half of the ХХth – at the beginning of the ХХІst c.The study of artistic processes available in the Ukrainian ballet theatre in the second half of the XXth – at the beginning of the ХХІst centuries enabled to establish that the prosperity of the dramaturgy of ballet performances started with true-to-life mime and ended up in the appearance of full-scale choreographic works with well-developed content and skillfully ‘written out’ stage images. In particular, 1950–1960 became the time of going out of the creative post-war crisis for the Ukrainian ballet as well as of appearance of the first art samples where dancing became the key expressive element of the performance. In 1970–1980 the search in the field of art innovativeness continued, and the dancing repertoire of Ukrainian theatres was enriched with such forms of choreographic art as ballet-symphony, one-act performance, etc. In the 1990–2000ies domestic theatres expanded their art repertoire taking well-known performances from the world ballet heritage and were affected by the energy explosion of creative experiment among young choreographers working in modern and postmodern directions. This process is being deepened even now.
