Stepanenko K.S. Folklore traditions in the Ukrainian cinema of 1960– 2010. - Qualifying scientific work on the rights of a manuscript. Thesis for a Candidate degree in Art Criticism, speciality 26.00.01 “Theory and History of Culture”. – Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Kyiv, 2020. In the dissertation work, the problem of folklore traditions functioning in the Ukrainian cinema of 1960–2010 is investigated. It is established that the origins of Ukrainian folk cinema should be sought in the film industry masters’ works of the 1920s and 1930s: D. Demutskyi, O. Dovzhenko, I. Kavaleridze, V. Krychevskyi, I. Savchenko, P. Chardin, etc. As an artistic phenomenon, “folklore” gained its greatest development in the 1960s and 1970s, when the poetic tradition of folk culture became decisive for the formation of stylistics in Ukrainian cinema (B. Ivchenko, Yu. Illienko, M. Mashchenko, I. Mykolaichuk, L. Aspen, S. Paradjanov, etc.). Since the late 1980s, the poetic trend in the domestic film industry has been tacitly banned. During the 2000s and 2010s, films appeared in which a picturesque visual series and the use of authentic art contributed to the revival of folk stylistics in cinema (O. Volodkevych, M. Illenko, O. Kostiuk, I. Pravilo, D. Sukholitko-Sabchuk., V. Tykhyi, V. Chabaniuk, G. Yarovenko, etc. Key words: authentic art, poetic cinema, modern cinema, folklore, folk culture.
