Male dance has been comprehensively studied in the ballet theater of Ukraine in the middle of the 20th – beginning of the 21st centuries in the dissertation for the first time. The main stages of its development have been revealed through the prism of leading dancers’ biographies; the formation peculiarities of the pedagogical school of male classical dance in Ukraine have been clarified, the concept of masculinity in the context of dance theory has been analyzed, the determinants of male dance in modern Ukraine have been characterized, the influence of world trends in the male performance development in conjunction with the genre and style changes of choreographic culture of the late twentieth – early twentieth century. New materials on the work of leading ballet dancers of Ukraine of the past and present have been introduced into scientific circulation.
