Gonak I. Strategic imperatives of economic competition in the global economy

The object – is economic rivalry in the global economy. The purpose - is to deepen the theoretical foundations of the economic rivalry of countries in the global economy, the identification of strategic imperatives and the development on this basis of practical recommendations for economic rivalry in Ukraine. Methods – general and special; historical and logical; theoretical generalization; abstract-logical; analysis, synthesis, quantitative comparison and generalization; econometric modeling; correlation and regression analysis; visual. Novelty – is to solve an important scientific and applied task – to deepen the theoretical foundations of economic rivalry in the global economy, to identify strategic imperatives and develop practical recommendations for increasing the role of economic rivalry in Ukraine’s foreign policy. A theoretical model of economic rivalry in the global economy with the development of strategic imperatives that determine the role of national economic and foreign policy doctrines in shaping the basic priorities of economic rivalry and the main driver of competition of major actors in international economic relations. It is proposed to consider economic rivalry as an overt or covert struggle (confrontation) in the system of international relations in order to achieve competitive advantages or a certain economic, social, political and other effect using economic, social, military, informational, legal, terrorist and other influences. The essential characteristics of economic rivalry in the main commodity markets are conceptualized. The stages of development of economic rivalry are singled out, namely: the emergence of a contradictory situation in relations between international economic entities – there is a natural or provoked contradiction and the corresponding tension in relations between international economic entities. Institutional approaches to regulating the environment of economic rivalry in the global economy are proposed, in particular, it is confirmed that the global infrastructure of international cooperation is very dynamic and developing quite asymmetrically, and two levels are identified: supranational and national. The assessment of economic rivalry of countries on the basis of competitiveness is carried out. Systemic contradictions in the application of protective measures by countries in the process of economic rivalry have been identified. The system characteristics of Ukraine’s economic rivalry in the conditions of a new global confrontation are formulated, on the basis of which a model of factors reflecting the strategic imperatives of economic rivalry is built.
