Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the study of the cultural and artistic activities of national minorities in Kiev in the late XX – early XXI centuries, presented as a histo-rical, social, multi-ethnic phenomenon and creative practice of representatives of non-indigenous peoples – full members of Ukrainian society. According to the last census of 2001, in addition to the titular nation, representatives of 134 nationalities live. Clarifies the meaning of the definition of "ethno-community", which defines a group of people related to each other by the territory of origin, self-identification, goals, organizational structures, interests, needs. The leading directions of cultural and artistic activity of national minorities in Kiev are identified, the development factor of which in the process of historical transformations was the conditions created by the state to preserve their identity. The unification of ethnic groups around the centers of national cultures ensures the realization of their artistic potential and a high result of collective creativity. The importance of the personal activity of the leaders of organizations and creative teams of national communities, which, by their own example, largely determines the priorities in the development of culture and art of each specific ethnic formation, has been investigated.
