Essay

The object of study is vocabulary to denote parts of the human and animal body, including the name of the head and its parts, neck and body, skeleton and bones, cardiovascular and circulatory system, internal organs, muscles, human and animal senses, and also the names of neoplasms recorded in monuments of different styles and genres and historical dictionaries that reflect the vocabulary of the Proto-Slavic period, the development of the Ukrainian language, the ancient Kiev period (XI-XIII centuries), the Middle Ukrainian language (XIV-XVIII centuries)), the new Ukrainian language (from the end of the XVIIIth century - the XXth century); goal is to carry out a detailed lexical-semantic and word-formation analysis of somatic names in the history of the Ukrainian language (until the middle of the XXth century) in the context of the evolution of human understanding of the world and one's own organism, to characterize the concept of "somatism" to clarify the principles of classification of somatic names, to describe the semantics, etymology and word-forming structure of the studied vocabulary, to identify trends in the development of somatic names in the lexical system of the Ukrainian language of the first half of the XXth century; methods - descriptive, comparative-historical, method of structural (component) analysis; techniques - reception of thematic groups, classification and systematization, chronology, in particular the rule of the first fixation; novelty - for the first time in Ukrainian linguistics a comprehensive study of somatic names in the history of the Ukrainian language from the Proto-Slavic period to the first half of the XXth century, thematic groups of names of human and animal body parts at each stage of Ukrainian language development, studied semantics of studied nouns in chronological order, their semantic and structural organization is clarified; the results deepen the knowledge of theoretical lexicology, history of Ukrainian vocabulary, the thesis supplements the scientific achievements of Ukrainian linguistics and deepens the idea of the lexical-semantic field "somatic names", clarifies the classification of names of body parts, introduces new terms for nomination and neoplasmonymic vocabulary, the dynamics of functioning of thematic groups of somatic names at each stage of development of the Ukrainian language is traced; systematized and analyzed factual material can be used in compiling historical and etymological dictionaries, as well as used in teaching courses "History of the Ukrainian language", "Modern Ukrainian literary language" (section "Lexicology"), "Comparative-historical grammar of Slavic languages ", In the development of special courses and special seminars on the history of the Ukrainian language, the history of Ukrainian terminology for higher education, in further research; field - philology.
