Essay

The visual communications of Ivano-Frankivshchyna is researched in its entirety for the first time within the context of the commercial, social and navigation sign systems. The development and transformation processes of the information field in Ivano-Frankivsk region is observed from the mid XX century till the current day. Style, plot and image, technical and constructional peculiarities of the visual information means are analyzed, characteristic features and their organization patterns are defined. The specificity and functioning principles of the visual communication systems in the cities Xuzhou (China) and Opole (Poland) are studied. Key problem aspects of the information field in the Ivano-Frankivshchyna are defined, and, basing on the experience of the cities in China and Poland, effective methods of their solution are formulated. The vocabulary of terms is composed, new fact-based material, obtained as a result of the expeditionary-filed researches, performed in the cities Ivano-Frankivsk, Xuzhou, Opole is introduced into the scientific use. Historiographic analysis of the references is performed and the main methodological principles of the research are defined in the first chapter. It is proven that the range of problems with the visual information in the city environment has not been the subject of the complex research, and thus has not received an integral and comprehensive coverage in science. An integral notion about the information field of the city is formed on the basis of the scientific studies of the interdisciplinary character. The work uses the general scientific and particularly scientific research methods. Methodological basis of the processing strategies for the necessary ideas, objects and concepts were conditionally divided into theoretical, empirical and synthetic methods. Notwithstanding the type of the scientific and educational activity the research was performed in accordance with the principles of the comprehensiveness, objectiveness, consistency and determinism.
