The dissertation considers the problem of increasing the efficiency of competitive activities of high - class athletes based on the development of training rights, classes, and programs of their intended use in the period of direct preparation for the main competition in rowing. Implementation of methodological principles of periodization of sports training, scientific and methodological approaches and empirical knowledge of coaches, leading rowers and specialists of the training process allow to form the structure of direct preparation for the main competition of the year, to determine qualitative and quantitative parameters of the training process. New possibilities of implementation of the principles of periodization of the training process in specific conditions of sports training are shown at the stage of direct preparation for the World Rowing Championship.
