Essay

The dissertation provides theoretical justification and experimental research study dealing with the issue of information competence of would-be Math teachers through media educational technologies. The author looked into the contemporary state of the outlined issue in psychology and pedagogy; the main methodological approaches (competence, system, activity, technological, information ones) were generalized. The research work reveals the essence of such a concept as “information competence of would-be Math teachers”; it defines the structural components, specifies the criteria, markers and characterizes the levels that demonstrate the formation of information competence of would-be Math teachers through media educational technologies. The researcher defined pedagogical conditions, methods, forms, principles and experimentally verified the methodological system for the formation of information competence of would-be Math teachers through media educational technologies. The author developed and experimentally verified the technique to form information competence of would-be Math teachers through media educational technologies, namely: new topics and information were added to the content of educational components; an optional course for students training in “Media educational technologies in the professional activity of a Math teacher” was developed and implemented. To expand the list of learning tools applied for the formation of information competence of would-be Math teachers the following tools of media educational technologies were used: graphic (infographics: Easel.ly, Canva.com etc.; learning comics: Pixton.com, ToonDoo etc.); video files (learning videos: Movavi, Windows Movie Maker etc.); audio files (learning audio files: Sound Forge, Cool Edit Pro etc.); universal (information and learning website, cloud technologies etc.). The author developed methodological materials with recommendations for making didactic media on Math by means of the above software. The teaching technique which was suggested for the students who are taking the course means that a would-be Math teacher should acquire the system of theoretical knowledge which encourages the implementation of media educational technologies in educational institutions. Also, the system includes practical training in the development and use of media-products in professional activity, as well as practicing in applying didactic and methodological aspects while using media educational technologies in teaching Math, in course of control and self-control, assessment and self-assessment of digital media educational products.
