Tkachenko V. Education of education institution heads based on the competence approach: the United Kingdom experience

In thesis the theoretical overview of the United Kingdom experience on training of heads in education sphere. On basis content analysis of training programmes for heads of higher and VET institutions, Standards for school headteachers in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and the content of Masters programmes for educational managers in UK Universities was determined tendencies and peculiarities of the professional education for educational institution heads in the United Kingdom; identified generic competencies, principles and approaches that is based training of heads of higher education, VET and secondary education institutions. Considering the United Kingdom experience and national developments, the conceptual principles of the professional education of higher education and VET institutions heads have been determined. The model for the professional education of heads of secondary education institutions has been developed and substantiated. The recommendations for the professional education of educational institutions heads in Ukraine for the national and institutional levels have been formulated.
