Dvornyk I. The global transformation imperatives of higher education

The imperatives of transformation in higher education in a paradigm of post industrial knowledge economy are being analyzed. Mission and the priority of functions of various types of universities (educational, research, entrepreneur, classic, professional, corporate, governmental, private, mixed, traditional, virtual, combined) in modern society is being shown. A comparative analysis of national innovative systems functioning, where the key role belongs to the universities as intellectual capital generators and innovation progress, is performed. We have proposed a competitive model for the development of Ukrainian universities in the educational environment taking into account world trends and practices of transformations in the format of open science, education, innovations, as well as - resource (financial, demographic, migrantional) possibilities and restrictions.
