Essay

The thesis presents a theoretical generalization and a new solution to the scientific problem of forming skills of professional communication in a foreign language in students of higher educational institution of maritime transport, which allowed to substantiate pedagogical conditions, to build a model and develop an experimental method of ensuring this process, to experimentally test their effectiveness. For the first time the characteristic of pedagogical conditions of forming skills of professional communication in foreign language in students of higher educational institution of maritime transport is defined and scientifically proved (awareness by future specialists of maritime fleet of the value attitude to competent foreign language professional communication; dialogization of forms of educational and professional activity as a resource for the development of skills of professional foreign language communication in future bachelors of maritime transport; ensuring student-centered methodological resource for the formation of skills of professional communication in a foreign language in students of higher educational institution of maritime transport; realization of contextual learning of students in practice-oriented educational and professional activities); the essence and structure of the phenomenon «formation of skills of professional communication in a foreign language in students of higher education institution of maritime transport» are clarified; the characteristic is given and the component structure of skills of professional communication of students of higher education institution of maritime transport is revealed (professionally-specific, integral, sociocultural, strategic components); criteria (motivational-professional, perfection, sociocultural-strategic) with the corresponding indicators are defined; the levels of formation of professional communication skills in a foreign language in students of higher educational institution of maritime transport (high (creative), sufficient (partially reproductive), basic (reproductive), low (explanatory-illustrative) are characterized; the model of formation of skills of professional communication in a foreign language in students of higher educational institution of maritime transport is developed (cognitive-enriching, reproductive-activity, professional-creative stages); the essence of the concepts «professional activity of maritime fleet specialists», «skills of professional communication in a foreign language», «skills of professional communication in a foreign language in students of higher educational institution of maritime transport» was clarified; the method of formation of skills of professional communication in a foreign language in students of higher educational institution of maritime transport has received the further development. Elaborated diagnostic and experimental methods (questionnaires) to measure the level of formation of professional communication skills of students; elective educational course «Specialist’s Professional Communication in a Foreign Language in Accordance with the International Safety Standards in a Maritime Fleet».
