Pidlisnyi Y. Psychological determination and prevention of aggressive behavior of combatants in peacetime

The dissertation is the first comprehensive study of the aggressive behavior of combatants in peacetime in the national legal psychology. The author analyzes the origins and conditions of aggressive behavior of combatants. It is proved that aggression is a certain form of behavior of a combatant aimed at insulting or causing physical, moral, psychological harm to another being who does not want (does not expect, does not foresee) such behavior towards him or her. The assessment by society, a certain social group and individuals of the degree of aggressiveness of a person’s behavior is based on the social norms prevailing in society: legal and moral norms, traditions and customs. Forced violence in the military experience of a combatant can be a leading factor in his further maladaptive behavior in civilian life. It has been determined that the vulnerability of combatants to violence is possible due to: previous experience of physical aggression and anti-social behavioral manifestations of combatants (pre-war stay of a person on the trajectory of violence); experience of high intensity of combat clashes; being female; age under 25 years at the time of first participation in a military clash; having a minimum level of education; and alcohol abuse.
