Matasar I. Hygienic Assessment of Nutritional Status of Able-Bodied Population under Current Ecological Conditions

Under conditions of deteriorated ecological situation and technogenic accidents public health depends in a great deal on food quality. The thesis is dedicated to the problem of hygienic assessment of population nutrition safety according to content of universal inorganic contaminants. Methodological approaches and measures for monitoring population nutrition in ecologically unfavourable regions have been developed and scientifically validated. Indices of bioindication have been developed during the animal experiment to determine negative effect of some ecological factors on a human body on the level of the population. Acceptable levels (AL) of 137Cs and 90Sr content in foodstuffs and drinking water as well as the standards of physiological requirements of the population in essential nutrients and energy have been developed and implemented into practice of health protection. On the basis of the work a concept of hygienic monitoring of actual nutrition has been grounded and a concept of preventing alimen tary depended diseases has been proposed.
