Essay

The study is devoted to elucidation of structural and functional remodelling of the neuronal network of the preoptic/anterior hypothalamus (PO/AH) involved in the maintenance of the water-salt equilibrium, which developed due to physiological shifts in osmotic home-ostasis. Morphometric analysis demonstrated that ex-perimental hyper- and hyponatriemeia evoke specific modifications of the structural characteristics of cells. Two basic types of functional dynamics (FD) were dis-tinquished basing on the comparison of general reacti-vity and inhibition index: a restrictive and an activato-ry type of FD. Mechanisms of the development of the above-mentioned FD types were analysed.
