Sossa R. Mapping of the Territory of Ukraine: History, Prospects, Scientific Principles

The development of cartographic activity in Ukraine. To formulate theoretical and methodological basis of mapping of Ukraine, to define its place in development of the state and to work out the directions of advanced development. Methods: comparative-historical, historical-genetic analysis, systems approach and structural-graphical simulation, experimentation and prognosis. Theoretical and methodological statements on historical-cartographical research and analysis of the role and importance of cartographic industry have been formulated. Results have been used during elaboration of the state scientific and technical programs. Theoretical and methodological basis of mapping development in Ukraine as social and historical process has been grounded. The conception on cartographic infrastructure of the state has been introduced. Scientific and methodical support to national mapping has been studied. The prospects for development of mapping have been determined. Some chapters to State Scientific and Technical Program of Development of Topographic-Geodetic Activity and National Mapping in 2002-2010 have been prepared. Bibliographic indexes have been designed. Sphere of application could be all kinds of cartographic activity, administration.
