Holubovska I. Specific Ethnic Constants of Language Consciousness.

The thesis "Specific Ethnic Constants of Language Consciousness" is dedicated to the research of culturally determined language phenomena which belong to different structural levels of four languages (Ukrainian, Russian, English and Chinese). These cultural language facts (or ethnic constants of language consciousness, linguaculturems) have ability to model specific features of national world outlook and national way of thinking with the help of presign, sign and suprasign language units. The new research framework basing on the conception of cultural "quantuming" (possessed from physics quantum theory) and cognitive notion of conceptualization has been worked out tried up. For the first time in practice of linguistic research the notion of conceptualization is looked upon in various separate aspects: (sensory, logical, emotional, moral-value conceptualization). This approach allowed to work out the breakthrough research algorithm of national language world models analysis and to point out numerous aspects in their srudy: 1) language world model and sensory conceptualization of the outer world; 2) language world model and emotional conceptualization of the outer world; 3) language world model and cultural concepts; 4) language world model and ethnic stereotypes; 5) language world model and metaphorical nomination; 6) language world model and moral-value priorities of the ethnic collective. The main attention in this research was given to the phenomenon of ethnic mentality (the way ethnic collective perceive, feel, imagine, interpret and estimate the reality) which is rather hard to study because of its very abstract character. The present thesis is done in the frames of contrastive trend in the study of language-culture interaction and deals with the problems of linguistic gnosiology, linguistic psychology and linguistic ethnology.
