Thesis examines the development of minority protection in international law. The specific nature of international legal norms in sphere of protection of the rights of the persons belonging to national minorities is examined. Activity of the international control mechanisms of maintenance and protection of the rights of minority is analysed. The author analyzes political bases and legal sources of maintenance of the rights of national minorities in Ukraine and their conformity to the international legal standards in this sphere.
