Masenko L. Ukrainian language in sociolinguistic aspect

The linguistic situation in Ukraine. To investigate the linguistic policy, which was conducted by Soviet government in Soviet Ukraine, and also to analyses of present-day linguistic situation in Ukraine, which was deformed by processes of language and cultural assimilation, which took place during colonial dependence of Ukraine from Russia. The methods are comparative, historical and genetic, quantitative. General description of linguistic situation in Ukraine is done according to All-Ukrainian Gallup poll"s returns. The full social investigation of Kyiv linguistic situation was done here. Not only Ukrainian-Russian bilinguistic situation was investigated, but also Ukrainian-Russian linguistic mixture phenomenon. The dissertation signifies the ways of overcoming crisis linguistic situation and defines practical tasks of public linguistic policy.
