This thesis is the first attempt based on the complex analysis of considerable data set of empirical material to consider the conception of the development of commercial radio journalism in the conditions of the post-Soviet society, which is characteristic of the media system of Ukraine. Conceptual principles of the functional formation of the commercial radio broadcasting on the post-Soviet market of mass media are proposed; commercial radio as a subject of formation of the media market in monopolized information environment is determined; thanks to that the dualistic system of the Ukrainian radio broadcasting was organized, competition and the processes of denationalization became characteristic peculiarities of it; the role and the meaning of the commercial radio broadcasting for the formation and future development of the Ukrainian radio market and radio journalism were analyzed; preconditions of rise of commercial radio in Ukraine and its prospects is proved, which is the feature of democracy of information space, integration of domestic mass media to the worldwide progressive media, characteristic of pluralism and open society.
