Essay

Dissertation is devoted to investigation of modulation and plasticity of synaptic transmission. Heterogeneity of neuro-to-neuron synaptic connections of the same ergicity is observed in the central nervous system of mammals and invertebrates and was also observed in cell culture of mammals. The nvolvement of the calcium channels and mitochondria in posttetanic potentiation is a general property of the excitatory and inhibitory synaptic transmission. Both presynaptic and postsynaptic mechanisms participate in modulation of synaptic transmission in mammals and invertebrates. The homeostatic changes of efficiency of synaptic transmission are observed not only in excitatory but also in inhibitory synapses; both presynaptic and postsynaptic mechanisms can be involved in homeostatic plasticity.
