Thesis is devoted to the study of culture and history of the Cimmerians in the Pontic steppe. Archaeological materials recovered during the last 100 years were analyzed. Age of most of the Cimmerian burials was determined. Three periods in the Cimmerian history were distinguished (first half of 9 BC; middle of 9 - first half of 8 BC; middle of 8 - beginning of 7 BC). Analysis of Cimmerian social structure was conducted. There occurred a union of two endogamic tribes with the war chiefs, religious and civil cliques.
