Essay

The dissertation attempts to reveal the "unconscious" mythology (archetypes), archaic structures of the realistic literature in the dynamics of the aesthetic search of the 20 th century's literary science. It does not concern archaisms in literature or the modernization of myths, but wide study of the poetic reception. The dissertation investigates and determines the place, ways, and means of archetypes realization in the context of Russian realistic literature. Archetype is a means for the interpretation of the Russian classical literature. Special attention is paid to the phenomenon of the archetype: terminological modifications and innovations of the term, its intertextual nature, the main functions, types of archetypes' as they function in the literary work are being defined; universal and unique manifestations of the archetypical paradigm in literature are determined. Genesis and transformation of the archetypical paradigm are interpreted as concrete definition of the literary text. Archetypical components of the text are regarded as the unconscious fictional creation of the myth on the figurative, symbolical, compositional and plot level.
