The thesis deals with the history of the Ukrainian musicological science from the period of its formation in the first half of the XIX century till the end of the XX-th century. One treats in the work the prerequisites of the process of formation of the research stream in the Ukrainian musicology in its immanent and causal tissues, as well as the principal periods of its historic evolution . The subject has been elucidated in the unity of its invariant and specific for the respective centuries features as well as its being preconditioned with the infrastructure of the musicology as the branch of science and with the fundamental regularities of the development of general scientific knowledge, of the spiritual mastering of world that are inherent both for the national and for global culture of the second half of the XIX - XX centuries.
