Essay

Dissertation is devoted to research of national dwelling of Transkarpathian ukrainians in XVIII-XX cent. The state and character of a spring base, degree of problem study in native and foreign are analysed historiography. Historical development of rural settlements, features of their types and forms are traced; their original appearance, inner structure and sizes are described. Classification of types of farmstead and peasant yard, forms of his building, types and variants of dwelling and economic buildings, a building technique, architectural and engineer-structural receptions, internal planning, interior, are described; vertical development of house, specific social aspects in connection between the forms of family and forms of dwelling are traced. Old ceremonies, beliefs and customs which were executed while erecting houses and economic buildings, are fixed. Natural distribution of types and forms of country dwelling in different historical periods and different ethnographic groups of the region - dolinyani, lemki, boiki, gutsuli - are outlined. The influence degree of ethnic, historical, social-economical, ecological etc. facts on development and formation of regional peculiarities are indentified. Relict forms, elements and phenomena of traditional building and general features, with rural dwelling of other ethnic groups within Zakarpattya (Hungarians, Romanians, Germans, Slovaks) and in the context of general Ukrainian, general slav, Central-European and other ethnic-cultural connections are investigated.
