The thesis is an attempt to give linguistic characteristic of the professional discourse based on Ukrainian, Russian and English special texts (economic, political, historical, technical, mathematical, military, linguistic, literary, musical, artistic, medical, biological fields). The invariant and measure of professionalism / lack of professionalism is defined. Principles on which the professional discourse is based and is qualifying features are examined. Linguistic and communicative-pragmatic discourse characteristics are analysed. Peculiarities of "addresser" and "recipient" categories are exposed . Its types are characterized.
