Essay

The thesis is the first attempt in Ukrainian political science to make the comprehensive comparative analysis of foreign-policy strategies of the USA and the Russian Federation towards the PRC as the complicated phenomenon in three aspects such as conceptual, time and practical implementation. Author's conception of the multifaceted system which allows to carry out the analysis of dynamics and inheritance of foreign-policy strategies of the states, to find out their common and peculiar features is developed and substantiated. Correlation of ideological and geopolitical constituents of American and Soviet/Russian foreign policy towards the PRC in the period of bipolarity and post-bipolarity is specified. Factors which defined modernization of foreign-policy strategy of the United States and the Russian Federation on global and regional levels at the turn of the 20th - 21st century are marked out and analyzed. It is used in acceptance and practical realization of foreign-policy strategic conceptions towards the PRC and settlement of international security problems in accordance with national interests of the USA and Russia, their global aims and plans. Retaining basic parameters of American administrations' policy towards the PRC is proved. This can be seen when George Bush Jr.'s republican administration that changed Bill Clinton's administration in 2001, completed the program that was offered by the democrats in the security field in the Asia-Pacific Region to increase Beijing's role in the multilateral security mechanisms.
