The dissertation is a study in methodology and didactics aimed at determining the efficiency of philosophico-historical approach in Ukrainian Literature teaching in senior grades of secondary school. The thesis conceptualizes the meaning of philosophico-historical approach; specifies the peculiarities of how the philosophico-historical paradigm functions in literature writing; outlines the range of problems linked to the discussed topic in literature research, methods of teaching and school practice; identifies the psychological and pedagogical regularities of introducing the philosophico-historical approach into literature teaching; establishes the specific directions, principles and kinds of literature analysis which are necessary to solve the targeted problem; suggests a system of techniques aimed at the practical implementation of the developed teaching model; creates and realizes a program of step-by step accomplishment of the set tasks; describes the formative experiment and analyzes its results.
