Gamaliya V. Formation and development of bacteriological phytopathology in Ukraine (end of XIX - XX century)

The dissertation is devoted to research of development of the doctrine about bacterial illnesses of plants in territory of Ukraine. The history of bacteriological phytopathology is shown from the time of its origin in Northern America at the end of ХІХ to its formation as independent scientific direction in the beginning of XX century in territory of Europe. The institutionalization process of sciences about bacteriosis of plants in Ukraine, in particular formations of the All-Union coordination centre on a problem is shown on the basis of a bacteriosis department of Institute of Microbiology and Epidemiology of Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. The department collective created and developed under leadership of K. G. Beltyukova continued its work under guidance of R. I. Gvozdyak. This group is identified as scientific school for the first time. The basic theoretical and practical achievements of scientists of Ukraine obtained at the revealing of bacterial pathogenic organisms and development of combating means against them are described.
