Dissertation is devoted to the phenomenon of mannerism in the fine arts at the end of the XV - 1st half XVII century, main steps of transformation of this style and how it was expended across Europe. Analyze the basis of mannerism, use extended interpretation of mannerism category and propose introduction of wide scientific categories "manneristic dominant" and "manneristic constant". Based on the artistic works of Italian, French, Flanders, German, Spanish and English artists the tendencies of style change and specificity of coexistence and struggle between the various trends in the art during the XVI century were analyzed. The brink of Renaissance and Mannerism in the context of Italian art and its local Northen version was studied.
